Salsa Dancing Bootcamp: Learn Salsa Dancing Online

What kind of dance shoes would be good for both Salsa and Swing dancing?

I'm taking these classes concurrently and I think I can do something better than sneakers. Any thoughts?

You need salsa shoes with heels, and swing shoes with about 1/4 or 1/2 inch heels. These are two totally different types of dance and require different shoes. Salsa is a sexy, long stride and only looks really good with a nice line of a heel at the end of your extended leg. You might be able to get another inch or two on your line with the right shoe. Swing requries slides and short steps, and an oxford tap shoe with no taps would be appropriate to excute the required quick, grounded, movement.

Yes, you can do better than sneakers, with almost anything or bare feet. You couldn't have made a worse choice than those rubber soles.
If you're on good wooden dance floors, ballroom-type shoes with thin sueded leather soles will be best. I have some in black-and-white that I use for performances and occasionally just if I'm in a whimsical mood. If the floor is not a good dance floor, especially if it isn't wood, you'll want non-sueded and more substantial soles, but they should still be flexible, and they should still be leather. You'll be amazed how much easier turns and spins are with proper footwear. You could get Latin shoes, but I wouldn't for salsa unless you get into serious advanced competitions.
