Is Salsa dancing a good way to tone up?
I'm 5'2" and weigh 110lbs. I'm already slim and eat a healthy diet. I'd like to tone up, particularly around my abs, and perhaps lose a little bit more weight. I'm not looking for 'perfect' six pack abs, just to lose the last bits of stubborn belly fat and be slightly firmer. Would salsa dancing be a good way to do this?
I want to do something that is fun.
Thanks!
Any dancing is good for ya, as it's all exercise; however, belly-dancing is GREAT for abs! A little bit of strength-training is great for toning up, too. You could buy weights; but, you don't need to, for you can do resistance strength-training (just pretend you're using real heavy weights). Another good exercise for belly: Standing straight, lower right elbow to left knee, as you're lifting that knee. Then touch left elbow to right knee. Keep alternating this, & you should feel it a little in your mid-section.
I definitely encourage ANY dancing, though, as it (in my opinion) IS the most fun workout!!
Good luck, & I hope you reach your goal! It can be really frustrating; but, if you're motivated enough, you can do it!

Dancing is a GREAT way to tone up! Swimming too. You use a lot more muscle groups doing those activities. Might as well enjoy it! Just watch the beverages you consume WHILE dancing
It may counter your goal.
Good luck!!

salsa dancing is good for your legs and abdomen (and lots of fun).
have you tried belly dancing? That's great fun too and man it really works the abs and legs and your arms.

it would probably build the muscles in your legs more than abs but i'm sure it would have some effect on them too.
Here are some links to "fun" exercises to strengthen your abs:
