How can I learn to do faster spins when salsa dancing,?
How can I learn to do faster spins when salsa dancing,
Any tips thanks,
umm… it kinda depends on wat kinda turn ur doin… um… wat ever you r doin make sure you spot. also make sure unless it is supposed to move keep your legs as still as possible and if you are doing a pique turn make sure to keep it tight in the and dont move it. one more thing is dont let your arms flale around keep them in one position unless you are opening and closing them for momentum… all these things should help you turn faster and if you do them correctly should also help you to be able to do more…

Three things. First, always spot. That'll make things easier. Secondly, try to whip the other shoulder around so that you make it around faster. Lastly, keep bringing your thighs and your heels closer together so that you have less space to travel.

Well, being only 14 i have only done salsa once before, but i do a lot of dancing.
To spin (if you mean pirouhette) it is important to have good balance.
Also (as other mentioned above) the way that ballet dancers etc make it look as if they spin so fast is because they spot. This is also done to prevent them from going dizzy, and helps balance and posture.
If you do not know what spotting is, it is when you pick a point on the wall opposite you to keep your eyes on, and then keep your face towards it for as long as possible while you tirn, and then as soon as you reach the other side, whip your head around to look at it again.
This takes alot of getting used to.
MY BEST TIP:
sorry i know this is not helpful, but ASK someone. Your salsa teacher or whatever, to spend some time with you and go over it. but most imporatantly-PRACTICE!

Probably all you need is a coach to look at your turns a time or two to diagnose the problem. If you're having no luck where you are, you might try another instructor. Also, salsa is almost identical to mambo, so any good American ballroom instructor could probably give you a quick fix with a lesson or two.
