How can I keep my focus when salsa dancing?
I have been taking a few salsa dancing lessons lately and when we do a rueda (changing partners in a circle) I find it hard keeping focus on a partner’s eyes without getting embarassed?
Focus on the bridge of their nose instead

Yes it is hard isn’t it. Especially if you have an overly confident partner!
I just take a deep breath and get swept up in the music.

Well, you shouldn’t be embarrassed, dance with your heart and not with your mind. Focus on what and how the music and your movement could look like rather than putting your attention to your partner. It is now a prom that you need to focus more to your partner than your movement.

Yes , that can be an issue. Just think how embarrassed you should be if your NOT!
I’m sure you are doing this for fun, so is everyone else. Focus on the beat and the moves, If your not looking into the other’s eyes, your taking away from the dance, and their fun. The eyes are the windows to the soul. I found it fun ,(sometimes) to “read” what was up with them. Once you start doing this, you will find your not the only one who has the focus issue. Relax and enjoy!
