I recommend finding a pair that is not so expensive, or find street shoes that you can wear to bars. Some dance brands carry a leather-soled shoes, not suede-soled. Look into that. Save your good shoes for good floors. Invest in a metal shoe brush – that is extra $10 out of your pocket, but this is what will prolong the life of your shoes. If you step in dirt occasionally and accidentally – this is what will save them. If you dance on the beer-stained floor regularly in your nice shoes they will be ruined for sure.

Re-soling the Latin/Ballroom shoe is not recommended – the sole ends up being too thick.

I'm amased at things the sales people might tell you at the ballroom shoe stores. Most of them are dancers or retired dancers! How can they possibly give such poor advise I just don't understand. They probably want to sell more shoes….

I dance Ballroom and Latin.

When you get to the bar or dance club, check out the floor and other factors and decide whether to use your good shoes.

Have a friend look after your good shoes or lock them in the car if you decide not to wear them.

Enjoy the dance.

Find a good bootmaker who will be able to repair or replace the soles and heels of your good shoes if necessary.
